Top 5 Favorite Locations to Photograph Families in West Michigan.
Locations can make or break your session! As a family photographer, having beautiful light is key for me & my families! All of these locations are located within 1 hour of Grand Rapids, MI. Every single one will have gorgeous lighting & would be a perfect backdrop for families to make memories. Photos to all locations below!
Oval Beach in Saugatuck. I love this location because it has both dunes AND the beach, both fairly close to each other. It’s almost like your clients can get two locations in one! It’s also a bit of a quieter beach, so there aren’t as many people to edit out later! Win, win!
Riley Trails in Holland. The tall trees here plus the small lake makes for two very different types of photos options. I typically do more photos by the lake, but if you go to the trails, the tall trees are absolutely breathtaking as well.
Secchia Meadows in Walker. Across the street from Millennium Park, the key is to go under the bridge here. This place is breathtaking at sunset! There’s fields, the pond, the bridge, and lots of wildflowers. It can get very buggy here, bring the bug spray! But an absolutely beautiful location!
Grand Ravines North in Jenison. Although this location is usually quite overrun by photographers, it’s for good reason. It has gorgeous fields, a covered bridge and typically has some sort of wildflower in the warmer months. The light here is one of my favorites!
Haze Studio in Grandville. If you’re looking for an indoor location, this studio is a dream! It’s neutral aesthetic and easy accessibility will leave you & your clients with the best experience + the best photos. If you want to learn more about the studio, it’s linked here
I hope this is helpful for any family photographer or client coming to the Grand Rapids or West Michigan area!
